Act 1 The opera begins with a prologue in which the god Apollo sings of his love for the goddess Diana. The goddesses Juno and Ceres listen in jealousy, and vow to make the god fall in love with one of them. In the following scene, Apollo visits Diana in her forest. The goddess falls in love with him, but Juno and Ceres schemes to make the god fall in love with one of them instead. The goddesses decide to pit Apollo against both of them in a contest to see who can make him fall in love with them first. Act 2 The contest begins. Apollo sings of his love for Diana, but Juno and Ceres each sing of their love for Apollo. The goddesses challenge each other to a series of musical contests, but each time Apollo outshines them. In the end, Diana intervenes and declares that Apollo should love only her. Juno and Ceres are furious, but Apollo declares that he will always love Diana. The goddesses agree and bless the couple. Act 3 The opera ends with a celebration in Apollos honor.
